Melinda Barnard

Melinda Barnard is an AW Mellon PhD Scholar based jointly between Anthropology and the Centre for Indian Studies in Africa at Wits University, South Africa. Her Masters (in Economic Anthropology) looked at the way in which foreign corporates self-conceptualise and function within African contexts. Melinda’s PhD is focused on exploring the shifts in worldview which have led to the adoption of green technologies by corporates, and their developmental sustainability across the Global South, through comparative research on the transfer to renewable energy in large-scale infrastructure projects (namely airports). Melinda also holds an affiliation at the Centre for Development Studies in Trivandrum, in India.
